How is your 2015 beginning? Are you launching your year with a trajectory to get yourself where you need to be, by the end of this year?
I want you to break through your self-imposed barriers this year—all those ways that you unnecessarily limit yourself—and I want you to move into new growth, new possibilities, and new opportunities.
Enlarge your capacity this year, beginning with this first quarter. Push yourself, develop new habits, and build some momentum for these first three months of 2015.
This all begins with how you think, so I’m asking you to give yourself permission to THINK BIG.
And if you don’t know what “big” is supposed to mean, then start with this: think big-GER. Increase from where you are today—what’s the next step of “increase”?
Now, one very important thing for me to clarify: big doesn’t only have to do with QUANTITY, for example:
- Bigger house
- More money
- More “things”
“BIG” can also mean NON-material things, such as quality:
- Deeper intimacy with . . .
- Better relationship with . . .
- More consistent working out
What about any SKILLS that you want to improve and develop, and “think big” about in 2015?
Are there any STRENGTHS that you want to deepen, or RECLAIM (perhaps you have some strengths that were unused in 2014, lying dormant).
Are there any areas of KNOWLEDGE that you want to gain? Any learning to develop or deepen? For your job, or just for your own pleasure?
How about this—are there any parts of your CHARACTER that you want to develop and “think big” about? You CAN grow in your character, despite how old you are, e.g., courage, honesty, responsibility, authenticity, kindness . . .
Or, is there some way that you can serve humanity? There is always a “bigness” to lending a hand, unceremoniously and with no strings attached, to someone who really needs a hand. There is plenty of need out there! Take your pick, IF that’s the area of your life that you choose to enlarge (ideally, it’s a part of everyone’s plan to “play bigger” in this area, but that’s your decision).
In essence, what I’m getting at is this: there are countless areas to choose from where we can progress, THINK BIGGER about, and challenge ourselves to really “go beyond” where we’ve been. YOU get to decide what is worth working on and improving. But make a decision!
What I’m recommending is that you identify something that’s important to you, and begin thinking big about it. Create a plan that’ll help you stay focused, and invest some time and energy, consistently, into moving this area forward in 2015.
Otherwise, on December 31st you’ll look back and reflect on the year, and see things as pretty much the same as the previous December 31st.
Is that what you want?
