Here are a couple things to chew on this week.
Generally speaking, we are either in the midst of a Life Chapter or a Life Transition.
In a Life Chapter, we’re engaged in something that’s meaningful and energizing.
Now, as good as this may be, and as we’ve all experienced, our momentum eventually begins to wane.
We get to a point where we’re not finding a lot of meaning in our current chapter anymore, and we’re no longer as energized as we once were. We may start feeling boredom, restlessness, and perhaps even depression.
These are indicators that the Life Chapter could be coming to an end. If so, and if we actually execute an ending, we are then in the midst of a Life Transition. This typically involves a lot of going inward, doing some soul searching, some life review, perhaps a post-mortem of sorts.
We eventually start figuring things out, and begin putting the pieces together for a blueprint of our NEXT Life Chapter.
But I want to say something very important: sometimes we don’t need to exit a Life Chapter–there are times when we can make some key adjustments and still salvage it!
In fact, this RENEWED Life Chapter may become stronger than it ever was.
So then, sometimes we end a Life Chapter, and sometimes we renew, resuscitate, and resurrect a Life Chapter. Perhaps with a marriage, a relationship, or a job.
What about you? Are you in any kind of a Life Transition? Do you sense one coming? Or are there adjustments you can make to reinvigorate your present Life Chapter rather than ending it?
Food for thought.
I wish you all a growth-inducing week.
P.S. Thank you Drs. Frederic Hudson and Pamela McLean for your creation and development of this wonderful model.
