We all wish for things. That’s positive. Wishes give us something to daydream about when we’re bored.
Or, a wish might pop into our heads to comfort us, to make us feel better, to send us to our “happy place” 🙂
Possibly, we’ll dwell on a wish as a way to entertain ourselves.
Or just maybe we’re a little more serious about one of our wishes, and we develop a strong desire for it to happen.
Whatever the case may be, one thing is important to know: WISHES ARE NOT GOALS.
There are many out there who are under the illusion that they truly have goals, when all they really have are wishes.
Who cares? You should care.
Wishes usually don’t go anywhere--they become a “cul de sac of the heart”, a repository of ideas and desires that have nowhere to go.
It’s sad, the amount of time that some people spend on nursing their wishes. This energy would be much better spent on pursuing a wish-spawned GOAL.
Wishes are a great place to start but a horrible place to end.
If your wish is worthy of being more than a 30-second mental vacation—and maybe it’s not—then put the work into converting it into an actual goal.
Goals work. Wishes don’t. Just like New Year’s Resolutions don’t work.
Wishing is EASY. Creating, developing, and achieving goals is HARD.
Do the hard thing.
Wishing is for the LAZY. Goals are for over-comers, for fighters, for those who push against the barriers of their status quo existence and reach higher.
What about you--which category are YOU in?
If you want to get serious about your success in 2014, start preparing yourself now to set some big goals.
And if you happen to be one of those who say, “goals don’t work”, then I invite you to reconsider and check this out. Goals absolutely DO work, it’s PEOPLE who get in the way and sabotage the process for themselves.
I’m challenging you to trade in your wishes for goals. You won’t regret it.
